Quite a somber note is struck in this image with people looking forlorn and bereft of happiness. The Emigrant Agent's Office - The Passage Money Paid is dated 10 May 1851, which would have been towards the end of the Famine.
The office of a Mr. G O'Neil, emigrant agent, is depicted, where people can buy tickets from Cork to Quebec. In the right foreground a woman sits on a trunk on which is written 'Jack Sullivan - Goin to Ameriky.'
