The Irish place of origin is usually not found in state and federal censuses enumerations that occur in the United States or Canada. However, there are exceptions where fastidious census enumerators recorded the Irish county of birth for the person enumerated. This list is an effort to document all of those examples. It will be added to as I write blog posts for each example. You can click each location for more detailed information.

Luckily all of my Irish ancestors ended up in Savannah, Georgia!
ReplyDeleteThe enumerator who worked the fourth ward in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin for the 1860 federal census also noted counties in Ireland.
